Just yesterday, I was leaving work and I took the elevator down from the 7th floor. (I usually take the stairs, but a co-worker was with me and I just went with him to the elevators.) When we got down to the second floor, two late 20's to early 30's gentledouches got on the elevator to go down to the main floor. I about put my head through the elevator doors.

I also am infuriated by the stupid logjam elevator riders who travel one floor in the middle of your ride. However, my rage always gets a little higher when the rider goes from 6 to 5 instead of 5 to 6. Walking down a flight of stairs burns less energy than pushing the damn "down" button. I agree, Keithage - TAKE THE STAIRS, FATTY!

You ever notice how the people who are interfloor traffic, are in fact the ones who need to use the stairs the most.

In the most recent Men's Health, a study is quoted that shows its actually quicker to take the stairs if you are traveling 2 floors or less.

Take the stairs Fatty!

And tell me this, why can't people either be polite when pushing floor numbers or get the hell out of the way? When you walk in and push your floor, ask the next person what floor they would like. If you do not want to talk (or are following the small rules stated above about keeping quite), then push your floor button and get the hell out of the way.

To Lincoln Financial Group:

I know Lincoln Financial has floors 3, 4, and 5 in this building. I have a pretty good hunch that there are stairs between these floors (something about fire codes I think). If you need to get from 3 to 4 please don't stop my elevator ride to do so. I know you are a douche bag and can't help it, but just try for me, take the stairs.

Sincerely,
Tron

To annoying girl who hit the wrong button:

Do me a favor, don't tell me you hit the wrong button, just get off on the floor you hit, keep your pride and take the stairs to the correct floor. Ignorance is bliss and my ignorance of your ignorance is all I really need.

Regards,
Tron

Typicall cell phone conversation on elevator.

Hold on I getting on to the elevator.
What?
You're breaking up.
What?
We need to right size these documents.
What?
I'm on an elevator.
Hold on, I'll call you when I get off.
I'll call you in a minute.
Right.
Bye.

Elevator doors open Jackass gets off and calls back.

I am lucky enough to work on the 3rd floor so I take the stairs to avoid all the issues brought up in the essay above. Also I got tired of pulling a Larry David and pretending to push the open door button, for the ahole by the front door 60 ft away who just can't wait another 5 seconds for the next car.

If you have some time to kill in the near future, I would recommend this article: http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2008/04/21/080421fa_fact_paumgarten?currentPage=all
It chronicles the story of that guy trapped in the elevator while providing some interesting insight into the elevator business, safety technology, and history. Kind of interesting.
