I don't use iTunes and I hopefully never will. The only software company I hate more than Microsoft is Apple. However I have made my share of horrible album purchases. Lou Bega's cd comes to mind, but don't worry I fried that one in a microwave.

A few things:

1) Itunes is the devil when spending your hard earned money on music. The quality is a low 128kbps (Basic CD Quality) and some of the rules associated with an Itunes purchase are ludicrous.

2) Give Xzibit another chance. Xzibit's best albums are 40 Dayz and 40 Nightz and At the Speed of Life. Those were his first 2 albums and they are good.

3) I am never embarrassed to rock out to Skid Row, but when a certain lady friend of mine plays the Backstreet Boys and actually enjoys listening to them, I am embarrassed for the entire music listening community.

OK, I've been wanting to post a comment for a while, but I'm too damn lazy. This was just too good to pass up for two reasons, so here goes...

1 - I am totally a victim of this on my own iTunes portfolio. My problem is, I can't buy a song without feeling the compulsion to buy the entire album. Consequently I have at least 30 albums of bullshit I couldn't fathom listening to in their entirety, all for 30 songs that I felt I had to have for some reason; ie - I was shitfaced.

2 - Unfortunately, I have seen nearly half of the bands you mention in concert, including Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (who thinks he's God's gift to music by the way, and also sucks balls), Biz Markie, and yes, The Grass Roots. (They opened for the Monkeys' 20th anniversary show is '86 -- yes, I'm old) Granted, they were all openers to shows whose headliners were far superior musicians, but still...it's a little embarassing.

I have some pretty embarrasing CDs in my collection.
However, I don't have any embarrasing iTunes downloads because I have never downloaded anything from iTunes. In fact I don't even have an mp3 player.
Is that more embarrassing?
Keithage, do you have an mp3 player? Because if you do and I don't than that means I might be the last person on earth without one.

I have not fallen victim to the iTunes embarrassing purchases...but I am embarrassed to a point when people scan my CDs, which are now all located on a computer hard drive and my iPod, Gojira. To compound this, when I put the iPod on shuffle, and there are other people around, it insists on humiliating me. I mean...I don't know how Disney's Greatest Hits made it on there. Or the 91 songs by Savage Garden. Or any of the songs above. When we're alone, Gojira is great to me...playing a great mix of variety, reminding me of amazing moments in life that I have inextricably linked to songs. But there is no excuse to pull out Paula Abdul's "Opposites Attract" when I'm driving to a rock show with a carload of people.
