Ahh...the mixtape science. How do you find songs that are relevant in your life, yet stream together when played together. I have to admit, I've given into the iTunes cheating. Genius may not be able to figure out what song I'm in the mood for next all the time, but damned if it doesn't get it close, or come up with a better solution over half the time. Kids today have it easy.

I love mix tapes from other people. I still have a CD that I got from the girl I went to prom with my junior year. It has a bunch of songs that we had listened to and talked about on our dates prior to prom. It brings back some fun memories.

But mine suck. There are always a song or two that I think, "Why the hell did I put this one on here?" So I stopped making them for myself a long time ago.

I recently came across a mix tape I made freshman year of high school. It was an actual cassette tape, similar to the one pictured at the start of the article. So of course I listend to it, and it is kind of sad, not literally sad but sad as in pathetic. For 90 minutes, 45 per side, the order is as follows: a Rancid song, two random songs either by Operation Ivy, Mr. T Experience, Pennywise or someone off a comp CD I had, then an Aquabats songs, then two random songs, then a Rancid song. Rinse, repeat. Next time I drive by my friend in his car, I'm going to chuck this tape at him.

I've made two mixed CDs in my lifetime. Both were so terible that I decided to give up the endevor for good. What I couldn't figure out was that this was music I chose to put on the CD yet I could not stand to listen to it. I did however find a use for the CD, I decided to huck it out my truck window at a friend in his car.
