Monday Confessional: Video Game Mania

That guy hocks everything - beer, weed, white people dancing…

Ahhh, video games. We suspect the vast majority of our readers fall somewhere in the 18-35 year-old age range meaning we are the video game generation. We’re the ones who saved our quarters to head down to the corner 7-11 to play Street Fighter II and Bad Dudes; we’re the ones who turned “Madden Day” into a near-National Holiday; and we’re the ones who first had a Nintendo Entertainment System in our homes that upped the collective frustration of the nation’s dads trying to hook up “the goddamn thing.”

So this week’s Confessional topic is right in our readership’s wheelhouse. Our question this week is simple. What is your favorite video game of all-time? Responses were all over the map. We’ll start with the CJS Staff and progress to the readers. A new prompt is at the bottom. Read on and enjoy! Continue Reading »

Happy Friday #40: Late Edition

Damn, missed our chance.

How does the old saying go? Better late than never. We apologize for the tardiness brevity of today’s Happy Friday. Sometimes things just happen like an emergency at work, or getting hopped up on pain meds, or assuming that someone else was taking care of it. But that’s neither here or there at this point. We have a few links for you, so let’s quit dilly-dallying (surprisingly that didn’t get red lined by spell check) and get this show on the road. Continue Reading »

Who Do You Call When You Have Monsters?

Get out of here Pheobe the feeb!

Somehow I managed to draw the short straw and became fated to follow the Bill Allen interview. Another thanks to Bill Allen for taking time out to do that, but how the hell I am I suppose to follow that? I thought long and hard about how to. I knew I couldn’t top it, so I’m attempting to ride the coat tails.

What does that mean? That means I am going to talk about another 80′s movie that I love. I briefly touched on this film a few months back, but now I am giving it much more attention. Even though I essentially ended up dissecting this movie and pointing out the flaws, I still find it fun and enjoyable. I am already looking forward to my next viewing of it. The cinematic masterpiece I’m speaking of is 1987′s The Monster Squad. Continue Reading »

Cru Jones Society 1-Year Anniversary: Q&A with Bill Allen, Star of RAD

Cru Jones (aka Bill Allen) livin’ large

When we conceived this site, I tossed out the name “Cru Jones Society” and got approval from both Limon and Hart relatively quickly. It sort of encapsulated what we wanted to be about, our sensibilities in terms of pop culture, and was more than likely available from GoDaddy.com. While building the site, I toyed with the idea of emailing the guy who played Cru Jones just to give him a heads up about what we were doing. As we got busy with articles and building the site into what it is today, that fell by the wayside and days turned into weeks which turned into months, which turned into nearly a year. Well it’s time to rectify that. Continue Reading »
