That night did suck. That happened to be my first punk show. I only knew a couple of songs but I had an outstanding time.

Worst show I ever saw at the Ogden was the Ataris opening for the Vandals. While the show was fine, my truck got towed from Wendy's despite my plan to eat there. Deuce and I had to hitch a ride to the impound lot fork over almost all the money I had in my bank account and then make our way home the next day. That sucked.

The best show I ever saw at the Bluebird was probably that Mad Caddies show where we stood front row center right above the pit. Two bands opened for the Caddies you may have heard of: Rise Against and Yellowcard. Unbelievable show.

As for the Ogden, while that Flogging Molly show was good, I think I liked the one where they headlined and Andrew WK opened better. That show was in-fucking-sane.

Other good shows from the Ogden: Face to Face w/My Chemical Romance; Face to Face w/Alkaline Trio, Saves the Day, and New Found Glory; Yellowcard and Lagwagon; any Less Than Jake show except where the magician and Fallout Boy opened for them.

The Flogging Molly/Bouncing Souls show remains my FAVORITE show of all time. Mainly for the reasons you said, but also because it was the first time I saw the Souls. The lead singer had a dark suit on with a bright red shirt and a black tie. While everyone else looked like a normal punk rocker, he was classy as hell and still rocked the joint. That is one thing I like about the Mighty Mighty Bosstones show. There is nothing saying you can't look good and have a good time.

I agree with the balcony bullshit...in my possibly hundreds of shows at the Ogden and Bluebird, they can't make up their minds. Sometimes, the balcony is 21+, sometimes they just use it as an elevated pen for the minors. I prefer it when it's 21+, especially at the oversold punk shows. I felt like the king of the venue, holding my beer, leaning against the railing with tons of space around me, and just seeing the swarms of kids moshing...it brought me back to the day when I was young enough to handle being in the throws of the crowd...and you're wrong about the Damned. They're the only ones I can stand that do that genre...but they're amazing.
