The 30 for 30 documentary style movies on ESPN are really good. I watched one about the Wayne Gretzky trade from Edmonton to the Kings and all the ins and outs of it. And the one I watched about the USFL and it's demise from a successful up and coming league and how Donald Trump drove it into the ground when he became a team owner. Very insightful on a topic that I didn't really know much about except from anecdotes. Case in point, the USFL was the first league to allow underclassmen to be drafted, also they signed 3 straight Heismann winners including Hershell Walker and Steve Young. That's pretty impressive for an upstart league. The XFL and the AFL certainly can't make a claim like that.
