It's basically impossible to describe in less than a paragraph, and if you're working that hard to tell the public what a movie is, you've already lost. The trailer's filled with lots of funny sight gags, but the explanation for the plot is still confusing as hell. Plus, as you alluded to, it seems like a bit too much inside baseball, and you're right, the public sometimes hates that (e.g. Studio 60). However, having recently watched Parenthood again and realizing just how freaking good it is now that I'm older, I'm developing an appreciation for Steve Martin and this looks like fun.
