Another April Fool’s Day has come and gone. We were fortunate enough to not play the role of fool to anyone. We hope you met the same fate. Now we have a weekend ripe with colored eggs and the start of baseball. But before we get to that we have our weekly collection of links. To help you waste your day we give you cars, MTV, and more Youtube videos than you really need. Now crack open that egg and read away.

*

Let’s set sail this week with a link about beef, or should we go with one about football? Why try to decide? We have one about beef football. CassieB sent us this link and she was really excited about it. And with their cleverly named stadium (the Slaughterhouse) and their 300lbs male cheerleaders, what’s not to be excited about? Perhaps all the puns on the site, but that’s just part of the charm. Oh and if you’re wondering where’s the beef, yeah it’s in Omaha, Nebraska. Giving us another reason we’re happy to not be living in Nebraska.

*

While beef football did offer us some fun unintentional comedy, we think someone owes us an apology, at least for naming their mascot Sir Loin. I don’t think that’s asking too much. And it’s not that hard. The dude who wrote the screenplay for Battlefield Earth apologized for the movie being a piece crap. He says what showed up on screen was not what he had on paper and he realizes how truly awful it was. Even he only saw it once, at the premiere. Thanks for stepping in and saying you’re sorry for that monstrosity. You are forgiven, everyone else involved, not so much.

We need something to wash Battlefield Earth out of our minds. Oh, how about some baseball talk? We haven’t had enough of that this week, and the season opens up on Sunday!

Of course will start this off with talk of our beloved Rockies. Peter Gammons is giving more love to the Rox and we are so happy to finally see these guys get the respect they deserve. When we read things like this we get more excited and really cannot wait to watch Rockies baseball, especially since out hockey team is falling apart here at the end of the season.

And in the “What are the Chances?” file we have this story from the Grapefruit League. Twins outfielder Denard Span tipped a pitch foul that hit his own mother in the chest. First of all, she is ok. Span quickly ran into the stand and to her once he realized what just happened. You watch enough baseball you will see a spectator get hit by a foul ball, but it is rarely someone the batter knows, let a lone their own mother. Just a story of the bizarre we couldn’t believe. Glad she is ok though.

At the beginning of the week we all made some predictions about the upcoming season. One of mine was Flickerbock would spend a lot of time giving Dagger shit about his beloved Cubs. Well, that prediction is starting to come true as we received this email from Flickerbock. To which Sheldon Cooper would like to add, “Bazinga!”

Have a funny link or photo you want to share? Send it to us, staff@crujonessociety.com, and we’ll help spread it like VD. Hey since we’re sharing, why don’t you go ahead and share with us an answer for the Monday Confessional. This week we want to know: What fashion fad of the 80s or early 90s are you guilty of participating in? Did you wear clothing that changed color, glowed in the day, or had to be slapped on? Or did you rock an outfit that let people know you were hangin’ tough? If you were around at the time then we know you’re guilty of something and we suggest you confess in order to be forgiven. Our suspicion is you’ll want forgiveness.

Hey speaking of 80s stuff, remember MTV? Of course you do since it’s still one of the most dominate networks on cable. Well they’re dropping the “music television” part of their logo, which is fitting since they dropped the music part of their programming. To mourn this we offer for your viewing pleasure, the Top Ten MTV Moments as chosen by someone who writes for Time. We forgot that the channel used to be totally awesome at one point. Then Beavis and Butthead showed up and everything got better!

One of our other favorite things to watch is the classic hockey movie Slap Shot. And we are saddened to hear life will imitate art. It would be awesome if it was imitating the cool parts of the movie, which is most of it, but alas life decided to imitate the overall suck part. The Johnstown Chiefs, a team inspired and founded based on the film, is getting shut down and heading south. Much like the movie this move is due to economic hardships in the town of Johnstown, PA. We just hope they play their last game there hard and let ‘em know they were there. Good luck Chiefs!

Like hockey in South Carolina, two things that go great together are The Beatles and pro wrestling. Wrstlemania and a Paul McCartney concert are happening at the same time in the same city, so we are privileged to this list about the favorite Beatles song of some of the WWE superstars. All we can say is we find CM Punk to be a lot cooler now.

How about more links about fighters? We’re going to assume you said sure. Last weekend we caught UFC 111, and despite the GSP win it was pretty good, but that was mostly due to Shane Carwin. Carwin did what he does best, taking fools out in the first round. I shouldn’t say fools, he’s taken on some tough hombres and still did it in the first round. At UFC 111 he took out Frank Mir and secured his spot to take on Brock Lesnar this summer. You know we can’t wait for that one. But two other things we love about Carwin: he’s from Colorado (represent son!) and he does the fight thing part time. He holds a regular 9-5 job and just kicks people’s asses on the side. We can’t even imagine how dominate he would be if he committed full time to MMA. But damn if he isn’t fun to watch, and we recommend you check out the Carwin vs. Lesnar match, it should be Barney Stintson, you know, legen-wait for it-dary!

*

Since we’re in macho mode, talking about fighting and all, let’s keep it going by talking about cars. V8s and twin diesels and other car words I’ve heard before. Ever wonder where the names of some of these car companies come from? You know we have. Luckily someone else did the research and we can find out. I always thought Ford was named after Gerald Ford, not this Henry guy. I learn so much from Happy Friday.

*

Happy Friday is all about wasting time before the weekend officially starts, and one of the concepts Limon started with was the inclusion of videos. So with both of those in mind we thought this would be a great way to end this edition. Once again from Time.com we present to you the 50 Best Youtube Videos. Sure you have probably seen all these before, but why not relive the magic again? Besides, what else do you have to do? Make sure your TPS reports have cover sheets? Yeah that’s what we thought. Now press play, monkey.

That’s an Easter Bunny we can get behind (yeah we did). Better than this jerk. Have a Happy Easter, Passover, Eye of Sauron Day, or whatever you celebrate and we’ll see you Monday.
